BarTag FAQ
BarTag is simple on purpose. Still, a few things are worth knowing before you tag someone in.
BarTag is a real-world social game. You open a round with your drink, location, and proof photo, then tag someone in. They have 24 hours to accept. Once they finish their turn, they can tag someone else in to keep the round going or end it.
A round is the shared game. One person opens it by tagging a friend. Each player who joins can tag someone else in, keeping the round going. It ends when someone chooses to end it or no one keeps it going.
Tagging someone in means you are inviting them to join the round. They get your link, see what you are up to, and decide whether to accept.
No. You can open, join, and finish rounds without an account. Signing in gives you your own dashboard where you can revisit previous rounds, track your stats, and quickly reuse recent friends, places, and drinks.
No. They can open the link, join the round, and finish their turn as a guest.
Not to create the tag. You can use just their name or nickname. You’ll still need a way to send them the invitation, such as a text, email, or messaging app. If you save their phone number or email in BarTag, we’ll remember it for next time.
No. Rounds are private by default and shared by link. Anyone you send the link to can view the round. Future sharing tools may let players share completed rounds, but BarTag is not a public social feed.
A proof photo should show your drink, your hand, your face, or something that makes the moment yours. It does not need to be perfect. It just needs to feel real.
No. BarTag is built around bars, friends, and spontaneous nights out, but your drink can be anything: beer, coffee, soda, mocktail, tea, water, or whatever fits the moment.
After you submit your proof, you can tag someone else in to keep the round going or end it yourself. If you don't choose, the round will automatically close after a short time.
Yes—but not immediately in the same round. To keep rounds growing, you can’t extend a round by tagging the person who just tagged you. Instead, tag someone new. A previous player can always rejoin later, and you can always open a brand-new round to tag someone back.
The round closes as expired. No worries—life happens. Open another round and try again.
As many as your group keeps inviting. Every new player has 24 hours to accept, and every finished turn keeps the round alive. The round ends when someone chooses to end it or no one keeps it going.
